I want to leave my comments about impeaching Bush and Cheney online since they remain pertinent. I still think that the impeachment of Bush and Cheney would have saved many lives and yet we do not know how this election cycle would have changed.
Today we have a new President and he has asked for governmental transparency. Now we want complete transparency for the Bush and Cheney activities of the last eight years. So many secrets can now be revealed. Let's get to exposing the crimes with the detail that government documents and investigations can reveal. Of course we should not simply rely on Congress to do the right thing since they are unlikely to suddenly develop any progressive gumption unless the public vociferously demands they stop collaborating with the Bush-Cheney cover-ups.We need to remember that a lawless administration has been running the United States into the ground, making illegal wars and otherwise put us all in a difficult position today. So I am changing the name of the blog to RELEASE ALL BUSH AND CHENEY DOCUMENTS TO THE PUBLIC. For your information the previous name of the blog was as follows:
Let President Obama play his game. Maybe he will be an improvement for those progressives fighting for change, maybe he will not. So far he is so full of conciliation and friendliness towards his enemies that it is difficult to imagine him leading progressives anywhere but a ditch. Then the conservatives he embraced will shoot us in that ditch. Thank you, Mr. Friendly Pseudoprogressive.
The crimes of Bush and Cheney are legion. They need to be unearthed and documented. No doubt Pelosi will also be a conciliator to these criminals, looking forward and all that rot.
I do think Obama has made FOIA easier, so that should help get documents, ie. it will help active citizens get those documents. Congress needs to investigate the Bush administration now and not let the economic catastrophe be used as a smokescreen.
While the policies of Bush and Cheney have been crucial they share responsibility for the crimes committed by implementing these policies with a pitiful excuse of a Congress and a totally imperialist Supreme Court. This government of the United States spoke with one voice when the imperialist initiatives took place. Of course the progressive people of the United States opposed these wars and so did a handful of progressive officials, but most of them have the blood of millions on their hands.
The failures of Bush-Cheney are as a consequently also the failures of the Democrats and Republicans in general. The Democrats and Republicans have ratified, approved or passively accepted everything Bush and Cheney did to invade Afghanistan and Iraq and neither party calls for withdrawal from either nation. The few exceptions to this generalizations hardly weaken it as an almost always true one, the Democrats and Republicans are unrepentant and ongoing imperialists.
The massacre and genocidal siege of the Palestinians as I write speaks volumes of the imperialist nature of the Democrats and Republicans. Few dare to see the injustice and tyranny they have authorized for they are blind to what is just and unjust. The capitalist politicians are all self-seeking servants of power and wealth, seeking both wealth, power and privilege before and instead of any real justice, any real peace and any real democracy.
Despite such slaughters the imperialist United States is defeated in Iraq as we contemplate what will happen to the puppet Maliki government now that it is supposedly in power and withouth Uncle Sam to serve as suspenders to hold up his pant. Will Maliki remain stable or struggle to survive like so many puppet regimes set up by the Yankees in the twentieth century?
It is even worse than that in Iraq for the mercenaries, official and unofficial. (Of course the private contractors are mercenaries. So are the official Armed Forces since they are recruited on a voluntary basis and provided with monetary compensation, mercenaries.) Yes, the United States armed forces and the even more numerous "private contractors" are now liable for the crimes they commit every day of the occupation of Iraq. How many will be tried and how many will flee knowing that if justice is done that they will serve hard time or face execution?
The situation in Afghanistan is and has always been impossible. No one has ever conquered Afghanistan. These are the supermen and women of the world. If Obama wants to continue the slaughter then the defeat will only be more impressive in the end. Indeed, Obama is already defeated and condemned as an imperialist reactionary by seeking to continue this war.
Meanwhile, Bush and Cheney have no doubt worked hand in glove with Israel in executing the starvation and murder of the Palestinians in Gaza. Yet this is likely to prove more costly for Israel and the United States than anticipated. Of course, the efforts to starve, kill and/or expel the Palestinians is the founding principle upon which Israel was based.
Unfortunately these endless American and Israeli aggressions will make a just peace harder to achieve than ever. These invasions and massacres only harden the hearts of hundreds of millions against the invaders and the aggressors. Who is telling you otherwise?
The imperialist nature of the United States and its closest allies, Great Britain, France and Israel have never been more obvious to the peoples of Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. In all these cases, Israel, Iraq and Afghanistan it appears that imperialist occupation and aggression leads to a revolutionary response that is capable of defeating any superpower, any bully and any President of the United States.
